Pitch Live!

Hey y'all! I'm doing yet another contest. I know, I know, contest fatigue and all that... but this was TOO FUN TO PASS UP! It's called Pitch Live! and the fabulous Brenda Drake is throwing it for us.

I had such a great time pitching THE SHIFTING DARKNESS at the Writer's Digest Pitch Slam back in January that I just had to get in on this. Making the video was just as fun as pitching in person, but a lot less nerve-wracking because I could edit out all the mistakes and throw them in a gag reel at the end for fun :o)

Without further ado... here's my video for Pitch Live! filmed right on my porch...

Title: THE SHIFTING DARKNESS
Genre: Adult Urban Fantasy/Thriller
Word Count: 67K

P.S. Monsieur Behbeh is in the video because he was being a melancholy Frenchman and insisting on being held.
P.P.S. I want to say a special thanks to my bestie Ms. Kelli for being my Director. She's awesome, go follow her!

Love the gag reel! The book sounds great, and the only critique I have is for you to make it sound more conversational and less memorized. Good luck!

Hi Sarah,

I loved this—I'm a big fan of the X-Files and you're right that it definitely got me interested! It sounds a bit Men-in-Black-like, too. My favourite parts: the fact that her job is to keep all the rest of us on our crossword puzzles instead of worrying about monsters, and the fact that she has a boss-mentor-sometimes lover. Hilarious.

Great job!

Very nicely done, and I'm guessing you couldn't get away with near the number of takes it took me!

Love the gag reel at the end! I wanted to do the same thing on mine, but I didn't have enough time in the 2 minutes :)

Congrats on being snagged by Leigh Ann! #TeamLA!!

We were thinking of doing a gag reel too, but couldn't fit it in. Isn't it amazing how many takes it takes to get 2 minutes of film! Also, it looks like we're on the same team. Go Team Leigh Ann!! #26

I love the gag reel!

This book sounds right up my alley--I love the stories that have supernatural elements hidden in plain sight. Pretty solid pitch for balancing the little guy on your lap too!

I wish I compiled a gag reel. Most of my outtakes consisted of me mugging and blowing raspberries. You sold me with Monsieur Behbeh, though.

Truly, your story sounds amazing. I must read this. And congrats and good luck in the agent round! :D
